Turning a 0.45ha Commercial Site in Hertfordshire into a Virtual Showcase with Drone 3D Reality Capture

Introduction: Why This Site Needed a Fresh Approach (H2)

The Lloyds Building in Birds Hill is a 0.45-hectare derelict commercial and light industrial site. The client’s biggest challenge wasn’t just the state of the building — it was how to present the site to potential investors and buyers in a way that was clear, quick, and effective. Outdated Google Maps imagery and low-quality photos simply weren’t enough to spark interest or confidence.

Dronue' Aerial Survey Solution

We carried out a 3D model reality capture site scan,  supported by drone photography and drone videography. The model gave full external coverage in high detail, easily accessible through a live link. Instead of struggling with pixelated aerials, stakeholders could now explore the site from their desk — perfect for feasibility studies, cost planning, and investor presentations both in person and on teams.

Drone Photography in Action

One request made the project even more rewarding: the client asked us to retake a specific image at a better angle and quality. The new photo, compared side by side with the original, showed just how powerful high-resolution drone photography can be in transforming the way a site is presented.

Was It Really Worth It?

Time saved, money saved, and a professional tool that impressed colleagues, investors, and redevelopment teams alike. With modern drone surveys and accessible 3D models, sites like this can finally be showcased with the clarity they deserve.

Our Reality Capture + video and photography package starts at just £250. Perfect for architects, asset managers, and developers — this is your chance to bring your site to life in digital form.
